Breaking the Silence (Menstrual Hygiene Event-3)

Event Overview

On May 24, 2025, Youth Save A Smile Foundation successfully implemented the third seminar under its “Breaking the Silence” project at Perachhara High School, located just outside Khagrachari town. This program was specifically designed for adolescent girls in grades 7 to 10 to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene and health.

More than 50 students participated in this comprehensive session, which covered various aspects of menstrual health through:

• A detailed awareness seminar discussing the physical and emotional aspects of menstruation, hygiene practices, and the need to break societal taboos.
• A video presentation that visually conveyed the importance of menstrual care and hygiene.
• An interactive quiz competition, where winners were awarded sanitary pads and educational books.
• Distribution of hygienic snacks to all participants to promote overall well-being.
• A student survey on menstrual hygiene practices, through which participants openly shared their thoughts and personal experiences.

To ensure continued support, the Foundation established a Menstrual Health Corner in the girls’ common room. This corner will allow students to access sanitary pads at a nominal price, enabling them to continue their education comfortably and with dignity.
